Sprout is a 14 month old female Pug cross BorderTerrier. She is being fostered in Somerset with 2 other dogs, 2 cats and children. This lovely girl came into our care just before Christmas, she was handed into Bristol dog pound with a broken pelvis we think where she had been kicked, she also had milk where she had recently had babies and crawling with fleas. After hearing about her plight there was no way we could leave her in kennels over Christmas so our lovely kind foster home agreed to take her into their care. This little girl has done amazing in her foster home with the special care she has received, she has recovered from her broken pelvis which has healed fine and is a completely different dog to the one that arrived.
Sprout is full of fun her personality is more terrier than Pug – she is full of herself – loves being naughty and cheeky. It has been so hard for her foster family to contain her why recovering but they did well and now Sprout is firing on all cylinders and we need to start the search for her forever home properly as we have a completely different write up to her previous one. Sprout loves to be in the thick of things – probably not particularly well behaved and always up for a laugh, she loves chewing socks and annoying people lol – she is a fun loving little dog – who loves everyone – including the cats, dogs and child in the house.
She has had very little in the way of training – so house training has been a bit hit and miss but she is mainly there but not completely. We have only just started walking her and its apparent that she has never had any lead training so is all over the place, when she plays she will sometimes mouth – again not big deals but she does need people who have had experience of having a dog before and have the time to take her dog training and start learning how to do things properly now she is recovering from her past and injury. She is not suitable for primary school children because of her being pretty full on and the mouthing but she would probably love to live in a family home with Secondary School children and another dog would be great as she loves playing. She has not been used to be left for hours on her own so only part time or home workers for her.
She is a fun lovely little dog but she does need the right home – please only apply if you think you can meet the criteria we have stated – Secondary School Children, part time worksers, experienced home who have the time to take her dog training. Preference for another dog similar size to her and she can live with cats too and a most importantly a fun based life this is not a coach potato dog this is a dog who loves life and she does not want a boring one. Sprout is going to be very popular everyone loves her updates on facebook – and because of this she can hopefully be matched up with the perfect home for her.
Sprout has now been spayed, started her vaccinations and is chip, fleaed & wormed – she will be ready to go once she has had her stitches out from her spay. Her pelvis has repaired itself – there are no guarantees for arthritis etc in the future but there is no reason she cannot live a normal healthy life – she was probably destined to be a breeding bitch she has had a lucky escape and now her future is bright and our job is to get the homing right so please do not be upset if we say no as we have stated quite clearly the home she needs.
