Stanley (ref 112d) is an 8 year old, very dapper white and brown male dog who looks like a Whippet but is actually believed to be a cross between a Greyhound and a Lurcher. He was handed over to Leicester RSPCA Centre by his last owner, then transferred up to Derby RSPCA Centre.

Stanley is a very intelligent and obedient dog who knows at least 6 commands and walks beautifully on the lead. He is very friendly towards people and firmly believes that there is no such thing as being stroked too much. No matter how much you stroke him, he’ll still be up for even more of it.
His last owner doesn’t appear to have played with him, only walked him, so he doesn’t quite know what you’re supposed to do with toys. He should however be able to learn to play, if his new owners introduce him to the idea very gently.
Stanley would be suitable for a household where any children were aged 15+, kind and respectful towards dogs. The very last thing Stanley needs is to be treated like a toy and tugged at and pulled about. He is a quiet and sensitive dog with a lot of dignity, so he needs a quiet and calm home with a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere, where preferably he would hardly ever be left on his own. It is very important to Stanley to have the company of friendly adult human beings.
Being a sighthound, he would definitely chase cats and rabbits, so he would not be able to live alongside any. He would need to be the only dog in the home, because he doesn’t like the company of other dogs at all.
Stanley really is very good company and a thoroughly nice chap. Could you offer him the loving, caring and peaceful home-for-life he needs, with plenty of lovely walks to keep him fit, healthy and happy? If so, you can count on Stanley to be your loyal friend for the rest of his life.
