Stella is a 2-3 year old female Cross-Breed. She was found as a stray with a wound on her tail. She is a medium size around 14 kilos, she is not a big girl.
We assume she was injured and must have been kept in a tiny cage as she would spin and spin to chew her wounded tail.
No matter how many times she visited the Vet, what creams, cones, and treatments she was given, the wound wouldn’t heal and she wouldn’t stop spinning, so the Vet suggested that her tail be amputated. This has now healed up beautifully and her constant spinning has almost stopped as well.
She is one of those lost souls, that you see in a shelter and immediately promise that she will soon be in a loving home… well this was my promise to her when I first met her end of Sept and again last week. Stella can live with another calm and kind dog, a family that will shower her with love and slowly teach her what a home is.
Time, patience and understanding of nervous dogs are a must. Stella will grow into a beautiful lady in no time. She is very excited to be out on walks, as she rarely goes out but this will over time settle with regular walks and some training.
She shares her cage with another 7-8 dogs and she is always the one standing at the back of the crowd, she slowly warms people and she is absolutely none reactive to any person or child.
A calmer home in a quieter area will be ideal for Stella. She will need to learn the ways of the world, the everyday sounds and what is expected of her to gain confidence and start to enjoy her life.
A home with a very secure garden, in a quiet area, children over 10 years old that will understand to give her space, someone at home a lot of the day, are what Stella needs, and above all buckets of love, time and patience. Stella is in a unified shelter in Cyprus, where we help with rehoming some of their dogs.
