Teddy – 19 month old male English Cocker Spaniel

Teddy is a 19 month old male English Cocker Spaniel. He is looking for an experienced home, please. He is very nervous and has shown aggression when he feels under threat. He has not bitten. He needs someone who is prepared to give him time to settle. The first few days Teddy did not like my husband when in the house but with patience by day 3 he wanted to sit on his knee.

Teddy is a bit nervous and just needs time to take new things in, he does guard his bed which was in the utility room so he guards the room as well but this is only at night, during the day he is fine although we always gave him space to rest so he didn’t feel threatened. When we are in the house he had the freedom to wander around and was not a problem at all.

He is fine to get in the car but guards once in so for this reason I put a muzzle on him to travel and he happily sat on the back seat, he also does the same when you ask him to get out, I am sure with time this would stop.

Ted goes to bed at 9pm and sleeps through till 6am. He rarely barks and is happy to follow you around the house or be in the garden during the day.

Ted didn’t show any aggression on his visit to the vets but was scared, again I had a muzzle on him. He is not allowed on the furniture as in the previous home he guarded, when asked he always got off the furniture.

Ted has a high prey drive and will chase anything that moves, I was told he has good recall but I was unable to test this due to living on a sheep farm, he chases sheep. He pulls on the lead.

Ted dislikes children so must go to a child-free home and be kept away from visiting children this information is from his owner as we are childfree. He loves other dogs and happily plays for hours with our young Terrier. I truly believe that Ted will make someone a lovely dog.
