Thor is a 6 year old male Shar-Pei. He is looking for a new home due to a change in his owner’s circumstances. He has lived in the same home since he was a puppy. He is typical of the breed in that he can be unsure of new people initially and does take some time to build a bond, however he is very affectionate with his family.
He can be stubborn and does not always listen to commands such as recall. For this reason he should only be exercised off lead when in a secure, enclosed area. He has suffered with ongoing issues with his ears and does require ear drops, this can be common in the breed due to the ear canal being very narrow. Due to this Thor can be sensitive when having his ears touched.
He has lived with another dog in the past but does prefer his space and can sometimes be skittish when greeted by other dogs on walks. His owner feels that he may be able to live with a calm, older female in his new home.
He has never lived with cats.
He currently lives with two children aged 8 and 10 years old, however we do feel that he would be best suited to living with children aged 16+. He has not presented with any separation anxiety or destructive issues so we feel that he could be left alone for a couple of hours.
We are ideally looking for a home for Thor with breed experience. Please note that Thor is not currently at the rescue and is still with his family whilst being matched to a new home via our Waiting List.
