Toby – 6 year old male Welsh Collie Cross

Toby is a 6 year old male Welsh Collie type looking for his forever home. Toby came to us due to him being reactive to strangers, though he was perfect within his family (including two young children). His reactiveness has improved hugely and with distraction work is easily manageable, though will (if allowed) react to other dogs/people when on lead. He is also reactive to people coming into the home. However once properly introduced to people inside and out he becomes brilliant with them.

Toby loves long walks and has a good recall, plus he absolutely loves playing with a ball. Being a Collie he will need lots of walks, as well as mental stimulation. Toby is fully house trained and has very good general house manners. He hasn’t been destructive or noisy while with in foster. He is also happy to be left for a reasonable amount of time and is used to being left in a crate while left for an hour or so.

Toby is good with other dogs, and would be ideally suited to a home with a spayed bitch. We do not know what he is like with cats so he is looking for a cat free home.

If you’re interested in offering Toby a forever home please get in touch. Toby is in foster in Derbyshire.

*Update January 2020*

Toby is desperately looking for a Collie experienced foster home (ideally with a view to adopt) as he is in kennels at the moment. Toby was adopted from us as an older puppy but came back five years later due to his reactiveness to strangers and other dogs.

Toby went into foster with several other Collies and he has had no issues at all with them so we really think he would benefit from living with another calm, ideally female, dog. Unfortunately, due to a massive change of circumstances, his foster-mum is now unable to continue fostering him.

Toby has always lived with children and been faultless with them but in view of the upheaval he has had over the last few months we are looking for a child-free/older child home. He really needs a Collie experienced home, where he gets plenty of stimulation – both mentally and physically.

Toby is now around six years old and is a Welsh Collie type.
