Toby is a 3 year old male Husky cross Labrador. This little puppy was dumped with 4 brothers in an awful pound in Spain when he was a couple of months old. We rescued him and his brothers but sadly Toby’s adopters’ circumstances have changed and the poor lad is homeless through no fault of his own so we are rehoming him again.
He is a really stunning dog, we think he’s a cross between a Husky and a Labrador, if he isn’t, that’s what he looks like. He lives with 2 other male dogs and gets on well with them and generally he’s fine with other dogs but if another dog comes up to him and gives him a hard time he will stand his ground. He’s currently living with a cat who he would chase outside if given the chance but we think he could learn to live harmoniously with a dog-savvy cat with time and the correct integrations.
He has an amazing energy about him, he’s very calm and he has a contemplative air as if he’s really thinking about things, but then when outside he’s full of beans and very energetic and needs lots of exercise. His owners haven’t had time to work on his recall and he can be very selectively deaf when there is something interest to go off after so that will need work. He really loves walks and pulls on the lead initally, getting better after a while, but with the right non-pull harness and with some time invested in this he would improve.
He can be incredibly cuddly and affectionate but at other times in true Husky style he can be quite aloof and would rather be on his own. He’s a great combination of independent and affectionate. He loves his creature comforts, cuddling up on the sofa or the bed.
There is something very elegant about him with his distinctive markings and he has great posture (if you can say that about dogs!). He would do well with another friendly dog or dogs but could also probably live as an only dog, with active owners who would take him for decent daily walks and who are willing to invest time in training him.
