Vinnie was one of seven puppies abandoned in a cardboard box and left to fend for themselves. Their tiny little cries caught the attention of someone walking nearby, who was shocked to find the puppies and took them to the local shelter.

Sadly, the puppies had been separated from their mother but by chance one of the shelter dogs experienced a phantom pregnancy and she accepted the litter as her own. Without her, they might not have survived.

Vinnie is an absolute beauty and has a very polite and regal vibe to him. He’s a sweet and sensitive puppy and will often hang back whilst his sisters assess a new situation first, so he can be sure it’s okay. All of the puppies in this litter have a shyness about them, and Vinnie is around the middle of the group.

He wants to be friends and will hesitantly start to approach, but he’s not 100% sure about new humans just yet. There’s still work to be done on his confidence, but he’s definitely getting there.

Vinnie is great with his siblings and really enjoys their company. Due to their slight nervousness, we’re looking for homes with other dogs for the pups, as we think their confidence will really take a hit if they’re the only resident dog in the household.

Vinnie will come out of his kennel to check out new people and see what’s going on, but tends to be quite quiet and will head back into his bed if he’s not so sure about something.

Based on his breed mix, Vinnie is looking for a moderately active lifestyle. As his confidence grows, so will his cheeky puppy behaviours, so it’s important his new family have the time and patience to raise and train a puppy, to help him become a balanced and sociable adult dog.

He will need a gentle introduction to a companion lifestyle, but we think once he knows he’s safe and has settled into a proper routine, he’ll make brilliant progress.

Vinnie has not been tested with cats, and he has not had the opportunity to spend time with young children.

We think that children aged 10+ would be suitable for Vinnie, but they will really need to give him space to settle in at the beginning, as it will be a huge shock to his system initially. As mentioned, another dog will help throughout that integration into a new lifestyle and environment.

Vinnie is looking for a home based well outside the city where it’s not too noisy or built up. He would prefer a calm household environment where he can adjust at his own pace, and he would definitely benefit from a home with direct access to a secure garden.

Positive reinforcement training with plenty of high value treats and a slow and steady approach will help Vinnie to feel comfortable. He will need time, understanding and patience, but seeing him bloom into the pup he has the potential to become will be such a rewarding experience.

Vinnie is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. He is ready to travel once he finds his forever home.
