William came to us in 2009, he was truly one of the most nervous dogs we have ever met. He was thin, in poor condition and scared of his own shadow when he arrived here as a stray. We have no doubt that whoever owned William beforehand must have beaten him. It took William a long time to settle down, find his feet and learn to trust us. Even after all this time William is still a timid dog, he knows we will never hurt him but we still have to be very gentle around him or his is scared. He is a wonderful boy, affectionate, sweet and a real gentleman. He is clean and well behaved. He lives in our old house and has a room we have converted into a living room for him, this gives him more peace rather than being in a kennel. William has dedicated dog walkers that come in every week and ask to walk him, he is adored by his dog walkers who look forward to seeing him every week. Poor William lived with his long term doggy girlfriend Olga for many years, sadly Olga has died now and William was lost without her but has since shared his room with two older female dogs. William is good with female dogs but doesn’t like other males. William needs an adult only home, someone with experience with timid, rescue dogs. He needs a very gentle owner, who will tread softly with him and take on board all he has been through in his life. He needs a very calm, quiet home who will be committed to him for life. This perfect gentleman will make a wonderful, loyal friend.
Here is a note from Williams new dog walker Susan; Oh my god this gorgeous boy is the business. I have never met such a sweet dog in a long time. When he came out to meet me I was gently introduced to him. We made friends immediately. We went for a walk and the lovely lad just trotted along with me. Within 5 minutes he was nudging my hand and looking at me with those adorable eyes and telling me he trusted me. All I did was not to put any pressure on him and just talk to him quietly in my high pitched, stupid dog voice, telling him what a good, beautiful boy he was. This young man has the soul of an angel and was so easy to walk. I felt such a peaceful energy from him. Its such a shame that he has lost his kennel pal Olga and is now feeling so depressed. I can’t get over how long he’s been at the centre and no one has given him a home. I just hope someone gives him a chance because this guy is going to make such an amazing companion for someone. I absolutely love him. ?
