Zeus – 1 year old male German Shepherd Dog

Zeus is a 1 year old male German Shepherd. He is looking for a home with Shepherd or similar breed experience. He’s a stunning boy who isn’t in the right situation at the moment so he’s getting little training and exercise and as a result is barking at dogs, barking when the children in the house are doing things etc.

He’s living with children 6+ and with cats – he’s boisterous with both as you’d expect given his age and lack of stimulation but shows no aggression to children or cats so could live with children 6+ and/or cats if they’re dog savvy.

He’s not lived with another dog and barks when he sees them outside but that’s a very typical breed trait and again he seems more like he wants to play than anything. We would be happy to consider homes with another friendly spayed/neutered dog pending successful meets.

He needs a home committed to his training and exercise needs – he’s very intelligent and without this he will become bored. He greeted me with a bark and a waggy tail and soon settled on his walk, happy to let me fuss him, play with his favourite ball, offer him treats etc.

He pulls on the lead but again that’s easily worked on. He likes to chill out in his crate (with the door open) and is crate trained if he needs to be left initially. He’s ok to be left for reasonable periods of time but not too long. He’s housetrained and we are told he doesn’t chew any longer – but some accidents may happen in a new home.

He travels fine and is vaccinated and chipped and will need to be taken to our vets in Sheffield on the coming weeks to be neutered. Foster homes need to be within an hour of Rotherham to attend our vets and for meets. Forever homes can be anywhere within the UK but you will need to travel to us in South Yorkshire.

As always we require everyone in the family and any children who are regularly going to be in contact with the dog to attend the meet. Our usual process is that you will need to come and meet the dog and that adoption is then done on a second meet

JLP Trust Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue in South Yorkshire (Rotherham and the surrounding areas) and we offer help to animals who need us to find them a new home for whatever the reason.

Sadly many animals, especially in the South Yorkshire area, find themselves needing a new home, abandoned or neglected through no fault of their own. We try to help as many of these as possible through providing help with rehoming, foster homes and help to owners wherever possible to ensure that the animals remain safe, looked after and loved until a new forever home can be found.

For every animal we help we provide homechecks, vaccination, neutering and microchipping and lifetime back up if anything should go wrong in their new home.
