Bennet is housetrained. He can live with children but still under observation on how he is with other animals.
Bennet would like to find a home with someone who has owned dogs before and is fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog. He needs a minimum of one hour exercise everyday in a park or open space. It is not yet known how long he can be left alone for he is currently looking for a home where there is someone around for most of the day.

*Update September 2010*
Hello, my name is Bennet
I am a five year old male, English Bull Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier Crossbreed. I arrived at The Mayhew because my previous owners felt they could no longer afford to keep me.
I am now in a foster home and my foster mum says that I am a cute boy who is a real softy. I am very sweet and will come and put my paws around you for a cuddle but I am not demanding or an attention seeker. I am calm in the house and settle down in my basket on the bedroom floor at night and you don’t hear a peep out of me until the next morning. I am perfectly housetrained and I know basic commands like ‘sit’, ‘down’ and ‘wait’. I walk well on lead and I enjoy my daily hour long off lead walks in the park, I can get distracted and not hear my foster mum calling me but she carries my squeaky toy and as soon as I hear it I come racing back. I love to play with other dogs of all shapes and sizes and I am very friendly with people but I don’t jump all over them and I’m especially good with small children. I love playing football with older children too. I travel well in the car but I do like to sit in the front seat and navigate.
I am now looking for a new home where there is someone around for most of the day as I don’t like to be left on my own for long periods. I would love to be part of a busy family. I can live with children of any age and I can live with another dog providing we’re a good match. I could also live with a dog-confident cat. I would be suitable to live with a first time dog owner who is fully prepared for the hard work and long term commitment involved in caring for a dog. My new guardians will be taking on a ten year commitment, which must not be taken lightly. If you’re looking for a fun loving family dog then I’m the boy for you!
I hope to see you soon,
Bennet
