Currently being fostered in Devon in an adult family home with visiting children and other dogs.

This stunning boy came into our care after his family made the heartbreaking decision to part with him, feeling it was unfair to leave him alone for long hours.

Blue was first assessed alongside other dogs and, although understandably a little nervous at first, he soon settled in beautifully. He was in desperate need of a groom – but was so gentle and patient while we carefully removed his heavy coat.

He greeted everyone with friendliness and warmth, even on that first uncertain day, and then travelled to Devon to join his lovely foster family.

Those first few nights were a little unsettled – Blue needed some time to adjust to living with five other dogs, and found the nights a bit difficult. But just a week later, what a transformation!

He now sleeps peacefully through the night and can even be left for a few hours with no problems at all (his foster family have a camera to keep an eye on him).

He’s made friends with the other dogs, although he can be a little overenthusiastic in trying to get them to play – nudging them with his nose as if to say, “Come on! Let’s go!”

He’s a lovely traveller in the car – curious and keen to see the world go by.

Out and about, Blue is still on a long line – he’s not a runner, but he is easily distracted by all the little wonders of the world: butterflies, smells, and rustling leaves all catch his attention.

Biggest breakthrough? His lead walking!

When he first arrived, Blue was all over the place – hopping, jumping, and tangled in excitement. His foster carers have worked really hard with him, even attending dog training classes, and the difference is incredible.

We’ve made a video to show how far he’s come – including walking through town among people and cars, as good as gold.

The kind of home Blue needs

Blue has a huge amount of potential. He’s bright, eager to please, and has a lovely nature. He’s now learning all the basics he clearly missed out on – like not jumping up at kitchen counters, walking nicely on a lead, and keeping all four paws on the floor when greeting people.

He needs a home with someone who’s experienced with rescue dogs – someone who understands the importance of setting gentle but firm boundaries and can see the amazing dog Blue is growing into.

He could live with another dog, but ideally one who’s playful and able to help teach him social cues – a dog who can say “enough now” when playtime’s over, and Blue will learn to respect that.
