Brimmer – 1 year old male German Short Haired Pointer

Brimmer is a lovely solid black 1 year old German Short Haired pointer (although quite a small one!). He was rescued from Ireland recently as a failed working dog. When he arrived he was very wary of people and had never been into a house (having always been kenneled), and similarly hasn’t seen much of the world.

[rehomed]

However, he has been in a foster home for 2 weeks now and has really settled, and is now looking for his new permanent home. He is vaccinated and micro-chipped and (partially) docked. He is not yet neutered and that will need doing in the not too distant future once he has settled into a new home (as per our Adoption Contract).

He is now fully house-trained; walks well on a lead; has good recall; and is great with other dogs. He is still a bit wary of strangers, but will now talk to people if approached quietly. He is learning basic commands and is now sitting to receive a treat and whilst his food is being put down for him. He travels beautifully in the car and just goes to sleep.

He is fine to be left (with other dogs) in the home or the car. He is OK with children, although hasn’t mixed too frequently with them, so older calmer children would be preferred.

He is a very bright chap, and ready to learn whatever you wish to teach him. He has almost learnt to retrieve a ball, and is bringing it back now 4 times out of 5.

As with all GSPs, he is a very active chap and will need plenty of off-lead exercise in the countryside – he wouldn’t suit an urban environment. Ideally we are looking for a home with some previous experience of the breed who want to train on a young dog. He has always lived with other dogs, so would like a companion to give him guidance, and to play with! GSPs love their people, so would not suit a home with full-time workers. We do not know how he would be with cats, so care would have to be taken.

So if you feel you can offer the lovely Brimmer a new home, please contact me.

Brimer is being rehomed via GSP Rescue (SW), and his rehoming will be subject to our normal guidelines. We will be asking for an Asoption Donation for him.
