Dear Buddy is a big, gentle, white and brindle boy looking for someone very special. You see Buddy is a very special hound himself. Buddy has come back into our care because his elderly owner is simply no longer well enough to look after him anymore. It was a terribly sad parting for them both after so many years together. Buddy has been treated very well and absolutely loves everyone. He is always keen to say hello to new people and loves to be stroked and cuddled. The important stuff – Buddy has no sight in one eye and very limited vision in the other. He’s been almost blind from the age of 2 and is very well adjusted.

It doesn’t take him long to work out where things are and as long as you don’t move the furniture he is quite capable of finding his own way about. In fact he’s quite a determined chap and will almost insist on finding his own way! Buddy is also a mature gentleman at 10 years old. So you can see why we need to find such a special home for him. This lovely old boy is house trained and will ask to go outside if he needs to. He sleeps quietly on his bed at night. He will go to his bed and lay down when asked to. Once Buddy has been in his new home for a little while and is used to the layout he will be fine to be left for periods of 2 – 3 hours.

Buddy is fine with dogs of all shapes and sizes. He is generally quite happy to potter about doing his own thing. He is in foster care with a male lurcher and they get on just fine. He would not be able to live with a cat. Buddy has not been able to get out and about much recently so he needs to build up the muscles in his back legs. He loves to go for short walks where he can spend lots of time investigating all the smells along the way and sniffing the flowers. His foster Mum is taking him on several short walks a day to gradually build his muscles back up. He walks very gently on his lead.

We feel Buddy would be happy living with anther other dog for company but he has lived as an only dog for most of his life so will be equally happy to be rehomed as a single dog with lots of attention and someone who at home for most of the day. Please note we do not home dogs to households with children under the age of 8. He can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a home checker available.

Buddy is currently in a foster home in Norfolk, so you will have to travel to meet him and collect him from Norfolk when the time comes for him to join your family. Buddy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea’d and wormed. A homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
