Max is in an Oldies Club foster home in Portsmouth, Hampshire, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home. Max settled at his foster home within a week. When he first arrived he was a bit unsure but soon found a favourite spot in the lounge. He followed his foster carers around at first but this soon stopped. The first couple of days that he was left for a few hours, Max whined and barked, but as soon as he was used to the new routine, and realised that people would return, he was fine. Neighbours have confirmed that he is now quiet when left. Although he is fine to be left for a few hours, Max wouldn’t want to live with full-time workers.

Max is sharing his foster home with two dogs. When he first arrived he was a bit full-on with the dogs, barking to try to get them to play, but he soon settled down. He is very sociable with dogs and would be happy to live with dogs of any age, especially if they are playful. Max has lived with cats all his life. He is great with the resident cats but will bark at wall-walkers who do not live in house. Max is good with children. He would be fine to live with considerate children aged 10+.

Max enjoys long walks. He pulls on the lead at first. He’s having an hour’s walk once per day but would also suit two or three 30- to 45-minute walks per day. He is well behaved on walks but does like to go and say hello to other dogs and people. Max loves the car and looks out of the window watching the world go by. Max’s favourite pastimes are walking. Having lots of fuss and cuddles. Toys and playtime. He does not like being shut in a room.

A family home with children aged 10+, or a household without children but where someone is at home a lot of the time. A part time worker would be fine. Max’s new owners will need to allow him time to settle into their routine. He might be a bit barky or whiney for a few days, but this will stop when Max is feeling secure. Max has just been neutered. He is vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. He is in very good health. He has had the odd ear infection in the past. Foster carer’s summary of Max: Playful, Lively, Fun, Affectionate and Friendly.
