Mindy is a Bichon Frise aged between 5 and 6 years old. She is being fostered in RCT, South Wales, and is the most gentle dog, who has come into us as an ex breeding bitch. As with all of these dogs she has had little or no contact with humans and will need a patient home to help her come out of her shell and not expect her to be a normal dog as yet. She is very nervous and is just starting to gain confidence and learn what it is to be a pet. She now wags her tail when her foster mum comes in – and doesn’t run away. She comes on the sofa next to her and curls up. She licks her hand and her face – it so lovely to see her coming out of her shell. She likes her own chair. She has only ever barked twice to alert mum that she wasn’t getting her food fast enough! She does the Bichon funny five minutes of running around, racing up and down the garden.

[rehomed]

It is so nice to see her just being a dog. She is coming along well but future owners will need to be aware that it will take some more time for her to gain her confidence completely. She is timid but she hasn’t got a nasty bone in her body. She is housetrained, travels well in the car and is good at the vets even though she is nervous. Mindy is still very nervous about being touched or cuddled but is greatly improving every day. She is not at all dominant with her food and hasn’t learnt how to play with toys yet. She shows no inclination to jump fences and is not at all destructive. She has been left for up to two hours with no problem and she is happy to be crated. She was afraid of the vacuum cleaner and any doors slamming when she first arrived but she has got used to these now. She has had contact with all of her foster mum’s grandchildren ages 18, 11, 4 and 2 years. She was very sweet with them but finds noisy children a bit scary!

Mindy is looking for a home for with an elderly couple or a family with older children who would understand her needs. She is a very quiet little girl, so little children racing around would make her very nervous – even though she is very good with them and is a lovely dog. She would be best rehomed with a calm resident dog to help her learn how to be a family pet. Mindy is up to date with her flea and worming treatment, micro-chipped and fully vaccinated. Prospective adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in South Wales.
