Morgan is a very handsome 9 year old yellow Labrador boy who came into Oldies Club care when his owner moved to accommodation where pets are not allowed. Morgan was rehomed a few months ago, but his home didn’t work out. Morgan is now in an Oldies Club foster home in Milton Keynes, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home.

Quickly settled in foster: Morgan settled at his foster home quickly. He has been clean in the house since day one. Morgan’s a fun-loving boy who is full of energy.
Can be left but enjoys company: Morgan can be left alone for a few hours without problems. However, he was left a lot in his previous home and his foster carer doesn’t feel it would be fair for him to go back to living like that; Morgan is really enjoying having company at his foster home. Morgan is therefore not suitable to live with full time workers.

Good with dogs, but not with cats: Morgan is fine with dogs and could live with another friendly dog. He can’t live with cats.
Can live with older children: Morgan is good with children and would be happy to live with children aged 9+. He might knock younger children over as he does bound around a lot.

Loves walks but strong on lead: Morgan loves walks and is fantastic off lead and has excellent recall. He gets so excited when he knows he is going out that he pulls very strongly on the lead, even when wearing a head collar. His foster carer has been getting him to sit and wait until he calms down before she puts on his headcollar. She then asks him to wait by the open door until she says he can go out, and he is getting better. He is a clever dog and learns quickly so needs an owner who is prepared to carry on his training with kindness, with no shouting or anger.

Good in the car: Morgan is an excellent traveller.
Morgan’s likes: Morgan loves playing and chasing a ball. In fact, unlike most Labs, he prefers his ball to food!
Morgan’s dislikes: Morgan is frightened of fireworks. He can be protective of his people when strangers approach, but if they just ignore him, and let him sniff and get to know them in his own time, he is fine. He barks when anyone comes to the door, but if told No he is quiet and if ignored by the visitor he is fine. His foster carers are asking lots of family and friends to visit to get him more used to visitors. His new owner will need to be confident about working on this with Morgan.

Morgan’s perfect home: Morgan would be very happy living with a family with older children where an adult is home a lot of the time. He needs an owner who is happy to work on his on-lead walking, and on his behaviour towards strangers, using positive, reward-based methods.
Health notes: Morgan has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. He had a growth on his tail removed and had to have part of his tail amputated. He has also had a small tumour on his chest removed and has had a dental with 5 teeth extracted. He had loose stools when he came back into our care but is now on a food that suits him and everything seems to be back to normal!

Foster carer’s summary of Morgan: “Loving, fun, happy and faithful. Morgan has high energy levels and will keep on chasing a ball for as long as you allow him to! When he arrived he constantly wanted to play, but he now knows our routine and has learnt to rest when the other dogs do. Morgan has come on really well in the short time he has been here. He is a clever boy and will listen and learn when in a calm environment. He has even allowed our greyhound bitch to take his beloved ball from him whilst playing, with no problems. He’s a lovely boy who needs a forever home soon as he bonds quickly. He likes to be with you and follow if you allow it.â€
