Saffy is a 4 – 5 month old Collie cross Retriever puppy who came to us from a breeder who was unable to sell her as she has a very undershot lower jaw. This causes her very few problems and you wouldn’t really notice it unless you looked closely, it just makes her look as if she is permanently worried! She eats well although dry food is best for her as wet tends to stick to her bowl and she then finds it difficult to pick up.

Saffy was a terrified bundle of fluff when she came to us but she is now gaining hugely in confidence daily. She is a typical puppy, very playful and cuddly when she is in her home environment however she is still terrified of new places and sounds for example the Vet’s was very scary for her as are loud noises – vacuum cleaner, drills etc. and she will come needing reassuring cuddles.

Saffy loves her toys, gathering them up and hiding them in ‘her’ crate where she thinks the other dogs won’t go. She will chew anything she can get her teeth on – TV remotes, chair legs, garden plants, fingers – and she loves to shred newspapers. Having said that she is no different to any puppy of her age and is, in fact, the sweetest pup you could hope to meet – everyone who sees her falls for her instantly!

Saffy still has a long way to go in overcoming her fears and as a result she would be happiest in a home where there are no young children and preferably where there is already another dog who she can play with and who will gently encourage her and help her. Please consider fully Saffy’s needs before applying, in time she will become the most devoted and loyal dog you could ask for but you must be able to make a long term commitment to her.

Saffy has been vaccinated and micro chipped and will need to be neutered at the correct age (reduced cost neutering available at our vets) as part of the adoption agreement. She is currently on foster in Guildford, Surrey.
