Sheppi is a one year old male German Shepherd Cross who is already pretty big and is still growing! He was brought over by another rescue, his whole litter travelled over and all were quite feral pups. His siblings were not quite as scared as him and all got foster homes but sadly the only option for him was kennels.

Sheppi established relationships with people at the kennels and would play with them but even after several months would not let them touch him. We were asked to help and we drove to Southampton to collect him and bring him back to Norwich when he was around nine or ten months old.
We are used to “taming” untouchable dogs and have a lot of experience with doing so. Due to his young and impressionable age Sheppi actually came around very quickly and was touchable and lead trained in that first week. Over the past weeks Sheppi has grown more confident and more handsome daily.

He is as mischievous as any pup should be but is a lot of fun and very trainable. Sheppi is food and toy oriented so training for him is enjoyable and he is very bright and learns fast.
Sheppi is still nervous of new people and will bark at them initially when they come into the house but if ignored soon settles and goes about his business. He will need another dog as a companion, preferably one that plays because this is what he loves most in the world.

Sheppi will need experienced adopters with no children in the home, it’s not that he dislikes children but that he is big and boisterous and occasionally mouths at them to get their attention which could be misconstrued. Anyone who is experienced with Shepherds and has experience in raising them will love this boy. He has masses of potential and is cheeky and loving when he knows people well.

Please note it is Safe Rescue policy that all dogs adopted from us must wear a slip lead to be walked for the duration of their lives. Too many dogs are lost from slipping out of collars and harnesses and many of our dogs are timid due to past ill treatment and are likely to panic when out and about. It is absolutely okay to use these things additionally to slip leads, but not instead of. Sheppi is a fostered Norwich Norfolk.
We also request that extendable retractable leads are never used on our dogs. If you are opposed to slip leads, please do not enquire about our dogs as this is non negotiable. Thank you for understanding. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
